6th September 2019
Dear Parents / Carers,
Welcome back to the school after a beautiful summer holiday. Over the last few days I have seen that the break has invigorated your children and they have returned with a purposeful positive attitude.
A special welcome to our new parents and children joining in Nursery and Reception, I hope that you find the first few days an enjoyable, if not enlightening experience. To welcome you to our community and for you to come and meet some of our more established parents I would like to invite you to a coffee morning on
Friday 27th September. This will be held in the school hall on the Sunny Bank site between 9.15am – 10.30am. All parents are welcome.
One of our key priorities this year will be attendance and I will need your support in sending your child to school every day possible so that this improves on last year.
There are no further developments regarding the conversion of the school to an academy and so we will continue to work closely with Hampton Primary School to the curriculum. I have restructured the format of the day to ensure that mornings focus on the key skills of reading, writing and maths, but that the afternoons will then provide plenty of opportunities for the creative subjects to be brought to life!
To further encourage a healthy lifestyle, particularly in this age of obesity and inactivity, we have pledged to commit to the Daily Mile, which classes have already started to enjoy.
Over the summer we have had an office restructure, which is almost complete, and provides a more professional entrance to the school.
We are sad to say goodbye to Mrs Beal and Mrs Rose from the Admin team who have moved on to new roles in different schools and Miss Evitts who has also left over the summer, they will be greatly missed.
However, I would like to welcome, Miss Murgatroyd to our teaching team and also Miss Thomas, Mrs Pavey and Miss Shepherd who have joined us as LSA’s.
Please see below the events that we currently have planned for Term 1. As we get closer to some of the events, more detailed information will be sent out. Please note that we will endeavour to keep these dates and times but there may be occasions when changes have to be made and other events added. We will always aim to give you as much notice as possible if this is the case. You can also stay up to date with school events on our website www.sunnybankprimary.com and on Facebook by liking or following Sunnybankprimaryinfo.
