Turing Class - Newsletter Term 5 and 6

This is a very important term for the children with their SATs tests in May. The children have worked extremely hard to prepare for these tests and we wish them every success.

After SATs we hope your children enjoy the variety of activities and opportunities that will be taking place in the classroom and enjoy their final weeks at Sunny Bank Primary.

Last term the children enjoyed creating their own board game and set up a company to market and promote their games. The games showed great imagination and the children’s presentations were very persuasive.

Thank you for the amazing homework that your children produced last term for Alchemy Island.. The children obviously enjoyed researching and working on this project and I look forward to seeing their homework on the Tudors later this term.

Booster groups for reading continue before school each day and the Writing Enrichment Group continues after school Monday – Wednesday until 4pm with Mr. Sammult. The children who have attended these groups have found them invaluable and enabled them to make good progress in their general school work.

PE This term PE will consist of dance on Monday afternoon and cricket on Wednesday afternoons. After SATS have been completed additional PE lessons may take place, depending on the weather. Each child should have a named PE Kit, consisting of a white T/shirt, navy shorts and plimsolls, in a named PE bag. This should be brought into school each Monday and remain in school for the week.

All earrings should be removed on PE days, please.

This term our topic is Off with her head and is based upon the Tudors and the execution of Anne Boleyn. Term 6 our topic is Scream Machine.

RE this term will focus on Sikhism and Christianity.

Homework: Spelling, reading and multiplication tables will continue until the end of the year.

Homework will be set weekly on a Friday and your child will bring home a spelling list, a mathematics activity and some Grammar work each week. They should also have bought home a copy of the topic work for this term. In addition to this your child should read daily if at all possible and learn their multiplication tables.
