Super me in the Super world
This term is ‘all about me’. It’s a great topic for a smooth transition for the children from their nursery settings into school. This topic focuses on the Prime Areas of the EYFS curriculum, where we will be exploring our emotions, kindness and respect to others. Later on in the term will be looking at the 5 senses and how the body works. Throughout the term real life superheroes will be coming in to visit us, hopefully including fire-fighters, paramedics and vets. Maths in reception takes a very ‘hands on’ approach where everything we teach will be linked to real life situations and will always be very practical.
Reading and Phonics
There will be daily phonics sessions, where the children will learn new letters, sounds, blends and how to segment. We will have a phonics workshop for parents, to help you support your child at home. Your child will also begin to bring a reading book home for you to read.
Monday: Changing of reading books
Tuesday: Library (Otters)
Wednesday: Library (Wrens)
Thursday: Phonic folders
Friday: Changing of reading books.
