We welcome you all back to Terms 5 & 6. Both terms will be very busy and packed full of learning and fun. We are planning a trip in Term 6, which is very exciting, and will send more details when we have them.
English – in our English lessons we will be reading “Varjak Paw” by S.F. Said. It tells the story of a young cat who must learn “The way” – a secret martial art for cats!
Maths – In Maths lessons we will be continuing to develop confidence in: column addition and subtraction; mental arithmetic, multiplication tables up to 12; fractions and equivalent fractions, time both analogue and digital; 24hr clock and money. Please continue to help you child to learn their times tables. We cannot stress enough how important this is and will really help them to succeed in Maths.
Topic – our topic this term is “Dragons”. It is primarily an art based topic. Any junk materials will be greatly appreciated. Any cardboard boxes especially please!
R.E. – this term we will be learning about Judaism.
P.E. – this term we are improving our skills in cricket and in
Term 6 we will be taking part in various athletic activities.
Computing – in computing, we will be teaching the children how to stay safe on the Internet and handling data.
French – Bonjour! We will be concentrating on conversational French and learning the names of body parts, days of the week and months.
Spellings – your child will continue to bring home spellings to learn. The spelling test is on a Friday each week.
Times tables – each day the children complete Terror Tables to practise their times tables and have a test on Fridays.
All children should have a reading book to take home everyday, along with their reading contact book. To make the best progress it is important that your child has an opportunity to read with an adult at home everyday for around 5 -10 minutes. We would be very grateful if you could record any home reading your child does in their reading contact book.
Topic - will be sent out on Friday, 20th April.
Please help your child complete at least 3 of the tasks given.
Topic homework is due in on Friday 18th May.
Many clubs are available after school including sports, so please ask at the office if your child is interested in taking part in any after school activities.
Reminder: please make sure your child has a PE kit in school everyday. Sometimes extra PE lessons are slotted in on different days other than their designated day.
Thank you for your continued support.
