School Newsletter - Summer Term 2017

World Book Day was a great success. The children really enjoyed dressing up in their pyjamas to a bedtime story theme. I was very impressed that most of the staff dressed up in their pyjamas! Teachers reported that the children’s engagement in writing up their own story in the afternoon was amazing. Thanks to parents for your support.

We continued the world book day theme with the book fair that came to the Sunny Bank site 13th-17th March. A big thank you to Miss Kleebaum and all staff that helped out in running the event.

School Choir – Sunny Bank Sings!

Congratulations to our school choir who took part in a local singing competition hosted by Tunstall Primary School. They just missed out on second place by two points, but were delighted to come third receiving a certificate for the most uplifting performance. The children sang beautifully and the judges were full of praise about the Sunny Bank choir, who are a credit to their families and the school community. A special thank you to Mrs Brown for leading the choir and Mrs Miller for her support. The choir formed in September, with some children only joining in January.

We will be welcoming Mrs Edmonds, who will be the class teacher for Baird class.

Red Nose Day & Cake Sale

A big thank you to everyone, the school raised £512.56. Well done!

Please can I remind parents/ carers that school uniform should be worn every day consisting of a navy blue sweatshirt/cardigan, white polo/ shirt, grey trousers/skirt and black shoes not trainers. Although the weather is warmer now, sudden showers of rain and cold winds continue to be a feature of the British Summer. Please make sure your child continues to have a suitable, waterproof coat in school to wear at these times. All children in school will need either plimsolls or trainers for PE.

Sweatshirts/Cardigans and book bags can be purchased by clicking the link. We also have a small supply of items which can be purchased from the Church Road office. Just a reminder that all clothing needs to be clearly marked with your child’s name. This is particularly important in the case of cardigans, jumpers and sweatshirts as these are frequently taken off during the school day.

To comply with safeguarding procedures on the Church Road site, all parents are reminded that once they have dropped their children off at school in the morning and collected their children in the afternoon, they must vacate the premises and all playgrounds by 8.50am and 3.10pm respectively. New security gates will be fitted at the Sunny Bank site during Term 5.

Parents collecting nursery pm children must go to Tonge Road entrance at 3.45pm and any children attending after school clubs must be collected at the front of the school at 4.15pm.
