Head of School’s Message
As we end Term 1 we can look back and reflect on a successful term. Sunny Bank has been highly involved in a number of different events, from football tournaments to Swale Fusion of Light. The pupils have represented themselves and the school fantastically and I would like to thank all parents that gave up their time to come and support them.
As the evenings become darker and the nights draw in I would like to think ahead to next term with a message focussing on ‘Safety’. With Halloween and Bonfire Night being celebrated early on, it is important that the children are aware of some of the risks associated with these events.
With the weather turning wetter and colder, it is also essential that children bring a suitable coat to school to wear outside during play and lunch. Children without a coat will not be able to go outside so please make sure that they bring one.
There will also be some safety works going ahead outside the Tonge Road entrance gate during the break. Councillor Hall has arranged for the safety barrier to be extended and repaired to ensure that the children are protected as they exit and to prevent cars from driving up on to the pavement.
I am aware of the amount of children that enjoy playing games online or accessing social media and we will be covering some of the pitfalls and risks associated with this during e-safety lessons next term. I have attached a number of fact sheets for your information.
Finally, if you have changed your mobile number or email please could you update the office when we return so that we are able to keep you informed of information and events and can contact you about your child if required.
I hope that you have a peaceful and relaxing half term.
Mr D Waters
Head of School.
Attendance & Lateness
If your child is going to be late or absent from school, please telephone the school office before 9:00am to advise accordingly. You can text us with your child’s absence on 07860055264 before 9:30 on the day of absence and there after until their return to school.
Time Keeping! There has been an increase in the number of children arriving late to school. Please ensure your child is in school on time. It is very disruptive when children arrive late into school and they can miss information that is given to the children by their teacher and this can have an adverse effect on a pupil’s learning.
Un-announced home visits will be made next term for any children who are persistently absent
Please remember that the gate closes at 8.55am
