Welcome back. I hope you and your family had a good Summer break and the children are rested ready for a busy term ahead.
Please ensure that your children arrive at school on time each morning and are ready to learn. It is extremely important that they attend regularly as absence means that your child misses a great deal of learning! There are lots of new incentives to encourage your children to attend each day and I am sure that all your children are eager to do their very best and enjoy their learning. Please remember to send your child in the correct uniform and to clearly name all clothing that might be removed for PE or other activities.
We would like to welcome Miss Shears as the Learning Support Assistant for Kestrel Class
This term our topic is the Victorians and in English we are reading the novel Street Child by Berlie Dohertly. In Science this term we will be exploring forces. The focus in maths is place value and number work.
PE This term PE will take place on Monday. Each child should have a named PE Kit, consisting of a white T/shirt, navy shorts and plimsolls, in a named PE bag. This should be brought into school each Monday and remain in school for the week. All earrings should be removed on PE days, please.
Your child should read daily if at all possible and learn their multiplication tables. I would appreciate your help in encouraging your child to do this.
Please remember to sign their reading record each time you have heard them read.
In addition they will also, have weekly spellings to learn based on different spelling patterns.
Homework will also be set linked to the topic, which will include a range of activities from which your child may choose and they will have the term to complete this.
Any other homework set in maths or English should be completed in the period of a week.
Children that require support with their homework are welcome to see me at lunchtime or if they need to go over any work they have not fully understood. Please look at for School newsletters for dates of events happening this term .
Please remember that if you have any worries or concerns, do not hesitate to contact me through the Sunny Bank office.
Finally I hope that your children are happy in Goshawk class and I am looking forward to getting to know them.
