This term has been exciting, even with the challenges presented by the weather. The children have worked exceptionally hard to catch up, especially those in years 2 and 6 in preparation for their SATS.
Children across the school have progressed in their phonics and spelling scores. Spelling and phonics sets are daily, please continue to practice with your children.
The children have made us very proud with the warm welcome they have given the school guinea pigs Bill & Nutty, they are behaving very responsibly and learning how to care for them. Children can visit the guinea pigs and are able to earn additional time with them through the Class Charts shop.
We welcome Mr Wrigley as Premises Manager to our team and Mrs Landron as class teacher for Brunel class, Mrs Mouland will continue as a job share to ensure continuity for the children. Mrs Simpson is moving on to pastures new.
As most parents are aware all schools are under huge financial pressures, it’s a topic frequently discussed at both national and regional news level. This has prompted a recent restructuring of support staff, providing defined roles and different opportunities. However, we will also be saying goodbye to our two caretakers Mr Langley, who has looked after Church Road site for 12 years, and Mr Riggs, Sunny Bank site. We also say goodbye to Mrs Emmett, Mrs Hawkins and Miss Benzie who have supported the teaching staff for many years. We wish them all well, a happy retirement in some cases, and good luck for the future.
Have a wonderful Easter break.
Acting Head of School.
