The week commencing Monday 2nd March 2020 is Book Week. We have some exciting things planned for the children and will be focusing on reading for pleasure and enjoying reading anywhere! The theme for this year's book week is 'to share a million stories’
To launch Book Week we would love the children to come dressed in their PJs on Monday 2nd March and bring in their favourite books, a teddy and pillow if they wish! Please ensure the children still wear sensible footwear and layers for going outside. We want to be comfy and cosy to read lots of books.
Thursday 5th March: World Book Day!
For World Book Day both children and staff will be dressing up as characters from their favourite books! We would love the children to bring in their favourite book. During the afternoon all classes will swap to listen to a story read by another teacher. Your child will be bringing home a ‘World Book Day’ voucher today.
We will be hosting some parent workshops exploring how to support your child reading at home and some key information about Accelerated Reader and the raised expectations on reading across the school. These will be held in the school hall on the following days:
Early Years - 2pm on Tuesday 3rd March
Key Stage 1 – 2pm on Wednesday 4th March
Key Stage 2 – 2pm on Thursday 5th March
On Friday 6th March we will be having an Accelerated Reader Day. This day will centre on promoting thei r love of reading by encouraging them to take as many Accelerated Reader quizzes as they can!
Book Week Competition!
As the theme of Book Week is to share a million stories, we would love to see the children share with us where they like to read their favourite story. Please take pictures of your child and send them to school by Friday 6thMarch.There will be a winner from each class who will receive a special prize that will be presented during Celebration Assembly.
